Project Controls Specialist (Plant Bowen)

Founded in 1960 by Rudy Gerbus and his brother, Gerbus Bros Construction initially specialized in mass earth moving. In the 1970s, our expertise led us to partner with local power plants to address the environmental challenges of fly ash management. This collaboration gave birth to Trans Ash.

This full-time position is primarily based out of the Cartersville, GA area but will require travel to neighboring sites as needed. Pay Information:

$90,000- $120,000 / Year

Quarterly Bonus Program

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for overseeing the performance of two major heavy civil construction projects in the Atlanta region, and requires active communication between senior management, accounting, estimating, and field operations. Duties include managing construction schedules and the associated financial planning and reporting.

Essential Functions: 

  • Utilize heavy civil construction expertise to provide guidance and support on major projects.
  • Responsible for analyzing and reporting both cost and schedule data.
  • Oversee project schedules and cost estimates.
  • Tracks and trends cash flow reports.
  • Manages change control documentation (scope, cost, or schedule).
  • Responsible for maintaining effective relationships with customers, supporting the resolution of issues, and completing assignments (proposals, project tasks, reports, etc.).
  • Generate weekly, monthly, and quarterly project controls reports.
  • Manage resource (Heavy Equipment) allocation and planning per the Primavera schedule to forecast capital expenditure.
  • Maintaining project baselines in conjunction with change management.
  • Tracks and reports project variance, earned value and critical path analyses.
  • Work with the Estimating team and Accounting team to manage Bid conformance and budget management.

Job Qualifications: 

Education:

  • Relevant associate or bachelor’s degree (finance, engineering, project management, etc.)

Knowledge:

  • Experience in Civil or Environmental Construction Projects
  • Experience using software such as Business Objects, MS Office Suite

Other Desired Qualifications:

  • Highly engaged self-starter identifying problems, offering possible solutions, and taking appropriate action for resolution
  • Experience in the use of Oracle's Primavera P6 scheduling tool
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Certified Associate of Project Management or Project Management Professional Certification
  • Must have the ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment

Other Information:

  • Travel up to 50% to other neighboring states as needed.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., work in all types of weather, walk, and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be physically able to perform the work in hot and/ or cold weather conditions. 
  • Must be physically able to perform the work outside.
  • Must be able to walk slopes and uneven terrain. 
  • Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine needs.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a drug test (including THC), MVR, and background check.
  • May require significant time in the field, including walking up or down slopes.
  • Must be able to work in a construction environment.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
