Survey Project Manager

Founded in 1960, Trans Ash is a rapidly growing civil land construction & environmental company. We are expanding our survey services and are seeking to add a Survey Project Manager to our survey team to work on a long-term civil land construction project with our valued customer in the utility industry. This position will be based out of the Duke Energy Belews Creek Steam Station in Belews Creek, North Carolina. The ideal candidate is preferred to be a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or Land Surveyor Intern (LSI) with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in all aspects of land surveying including 3 years’ project management experience.

Pay Information:

$90,000- $130,000 / year

Quarterly Bonus Program

Job Description:

The Survey Project Manager  is responsible for planning, directing, and completing all   surveying  requirements for the project  per the contract drawings and specifications.  The services required will include, topographic surveys, as-built surveys, construction staking, sUAS (drone) surveys, volume computations, machine control modeling, record map production and survey reports.    The Survey Project Manager is an integral part of the project team, reports to the Regional Survey Manager, and communicates directly with the customer.  

Essential Functions:

  •  
  • Read and interpret engineering plans, CAD files, field data, and other sources to compute staking plans for grading, utilities and hard structures.
  • Provide support to machine control operations to include building machine models from engineering CAD files and plan sheets, troubleshooting machine control operations, and performing quality control.
  • Performs work both in the field and in an office environment.
  • Prepare certified as-built record drawings for permitting and submission to the client and state agencies.
  • Performs construction staking and topographic surveys
  • Maintain survey records, GPS, and CAD files
  •  Perform monthly sUAS(drone) surveys to determine production volumes and for design purposes
  • Accommodate client and job site needs by responding to all inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

Education:

  • The ideal candidate will possess a 2 or 4-year degree in surveying, engineering, construction management, or a related field
  • 10 years of overall surveying experience including 3 years of project management experience is required.
  •  Experience in field management of construction surveying projects is preferred.

Training Requirements:

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D is required.
  • Proficient with business software: Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Experience using Trimble GPS equipment and Trimble machine control is preferred.
  • Experience with Trimble Business Center is preferred.
  • Experience with Hypack dredge/surveying software is a plus.
  • Professional land Surveyor License in North Carolina preferred, or ability to obtain within six (6) months of being hired
  • Remote Pilot's License/Certification required, or ability to obtain within three  (3) months of hire date.

Other Information:

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs., work in all types of weather, walk for extended periods of time
  • Must be physically able to perform the work outside.
  • Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine needs.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a drug test, MVR, and background check.
  • Must be able to work in a construction environment.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
